Remember when solar lights offered only a shadowy grey output that were primarily for decoration? Those days are gone. Halogen solar lights have come of age.
The 30 watt halogen security light is now available. When you need a spotlight or a security light that is motion sensitive, the new generation of halogen solar lights could be just the answer you are looking for. This light is excellent for walkways and driveways, offering lighting for up to 135 feet.
The motion detector in many of the halogen solar lights will activate the light up to 150 times per night when in the solar panel receives full sunlight for a day. Once activated the light will remain on for up to 60 seconds or as long as there is motion.
The halogen solar light was first introduced commercially for use to spotlight buildings or as the lighting for billboards. Now halogen solar lights are available for the home.
The advantages of the halogen bulb is that the light is brighter and with the 30 watt output the distance of coverage is greater. Solar lights make excellent lighting sources for the home since there is no additional wiring required. Place the light, set the activation mode for illumination, and let the sun do the rest.
Most of these solar lights for outdoor use come with a minimum 15 foot cable to connect the solar panel to the light. This is advantageous as often the solar panel can be placed directly in sunlight for daily charging while the light itself is placed under an eave or in a shady area.
As with all solar lights, installation is easy and requires no electrical wiring. The true benefit is that solar lights can now provide as much light as a light that is electric, but the overall cost of the light and the installation is substantially less. The initial cost of the halogen solar light is expected to be between $100 and $150. The initial outlay is obviously more than the for an electric light. However, the solar light will not add to the monthly electric bill. And, the consumer will have a light that is bright enough to serve it purpose.
